Indigenous Engagement
We put First Peoples and Traditional Owners at the heart of conversations and decision making
Greenshoot is deeply committed to meaningful engagement with Traditional Owner groups, working together to embed Indigenous knowledge and culture into the fabric of our projects. We honour the wisdom and traditions of the world’s oldest continuous living culture through respectful, culturally informed methodologies. Our strong relationships with Elders and Traditional Owner groups across Victoria and nationally are a testament to this commitment.
We recognise that we all live and work on Aboriginal land, and we deeply respect the enduring connection First Peoples have to Country. Their knowledge and custodianship inform and ground our work, shaping Country-centred and place-based outcomes.
Greenshoot’s First Peoples engagement practice is predicated on creating a culturally-safe space for open and honest conversations with First Peoples representatives and Elders through a process that embeds reciprocity.

Historical and Context Mapping
Understanding place means listening to its many layers—social, cultural, environmental, political—visible and invisible, past and present. Our historical and context mapping work uncovers pre-colonial history, knowledge systems, places of connection. We draw from archival research, oral histories, cultural knowledge and spatial mapping to build a vibrant story of place.
Greenshoot has provided historical and context mapping for all types of projects and scales. Some of our projects include:
Australian Grand Prix Corporation
Dandenong Hospital
University of Melbourne Fishermans Bend Campus
New Epping
Victoria Gardens Redevelopment
Eureka Stadium
Cherrybrook Station Precinct
Northland Shopping Centre
