Melbourne & Cranbourne Botanic Gardens
Traditional Owner Engagement, Wayfinding and Interpretation Strategy

Traditional Owner Engagement, Context and Historical Mapping, Codesign

Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria engaged Greenshoot to design and deliver a new Wayfinding and Signage Strategy and a new Interpretation and Storytelling Framework, together with Interpretation Plans, for both its Melbourne Gardens and Cranbourne Gardens.

The opportunity recognises and supports international best practice in urban design, environmental design, communication design and the built environment.

At the project’s foundation is First Peoples cultural knowledge which actively nurtures our shared ambitions of Reconciliation.  Greenshoot Consulting was engaged to provide design and cultural translation services and advice into both the Wayfinding and Signage Strategy and Interpretation and Storytelling Framework and site Interpretation Plans to ensure the project successfully aligns with the Indigenous Design Charter.

The outcomes of this project will enhance the vision, purpose and aims of RBGV, to engage more deeply with a wide and diverse audience through information design and cultural heritage interpretation, while providing greater recognition and celebration of First Peoples culture and continuing connection to the land and the RBGV sites.
