The Marvel Stadium upgrade created an opportunity to embed First Peoples-led design and cultural expression into the new precinct.

Greenshoot applied a comprehensive program of engagement work with Elders representing the three Traditional Owner groups, using Greenshoot’s First Peoples Design Consultation Pillars. This allowed Greenshoot to map opportunities identified by Traditional Owners across Narrative, Design and Activation domains, in order to facilitate the embedding of Traditional Owner knowledge and culture into the redevelopment of the site.

Through the engagement with Wurundjeri Elders, Greenshoot codesigned various elements within the architecture and landscape to support the meaningful cultural expression.

These opportunities have evolved within the City Edge and Town Square locations which includes the ground plane treatment at the new entry points, column design within these entry points, and a ceiling design at the City Edge location.

Further art opportunities for First Peoples artists were identified by Wurundjeri Elders within the column design to serve as opportunities to tell stories of Wurundjeri culture and Country.
