This process created an opportunity to immerse Indigenous Knowledge into the DNA of the masterplan whilst ensuring the needs and aspirations of the sites Traditional Owners, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, were met.

Greenshoot Consulting was engaged by GMCT to undertake Traditional Owner and stakeholder engagement to support their aspirations to develop a broad master plan for a public cemetery at the Greenfield site at Harkness. The project represents the largest cemetery development project in Victoria for 100 years.

It also presented an unprecedented opportunity to create a dialogue about Australian identity through the lens of contemporaneous time whilst celebrating Country, and the rich significance of the site to its Traditional Custodians.
