Strengthening Governance in the Arts and Cultural Sector

Arts boards govern a wide range of organisations and Creative Australia understands that good governance is key to supporting these organisations in creating value, providing accountability and mitigating risk. Good governance structures in the arts should foster entrepreneurism, artistic innovation, development and exploration, balancing artistic vision with sound financial and management oversight. 

25 Arts organisations across nature, size and context were interviewed to generate the key sector governance insights, to help inform the development of a suite of governance templates, policies, guides and case studies to best support the industry. 

This work supports a key strategic Creative Australia objective to ensure that the arts and creativity thrive in an Australian context.
