Bank Street Park

Traditional Owner Engagement

Greenshoot was engaged by OCULUS on behalf of Infrastructure NSW to lead Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement and Indigenous Design Translation on the Bank Street Park project.

Bank Street Park will form a major component of the open space network in the redevelopment of the Black Wattle Bay precinct to create a vibrant new waterfront between the old and new fish markets sites. The redevelopment created the opportunity to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led design and cultural expression into the new precinct.

Greenshoot applied a sophisticated Designing with Country co-design methodology to define a site-specific Designing with Country strategy. This was highly commended by the client and the State Design Review Panel and the engagement methodology was endorsed by the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council and Traditional Owners. The strategy supported culturally responsive design translation across the project to guide and support excellence in the design solution.
