GPT engaged Greenshoot to undertake two phases of work:
Traditional Owner Engagement including a review of existing design, materials, to suggest opportunities to amplify Indigenous knowledge and cultural narrative within the overall project.
Design including turning insights gathered during the engagement phase into design outcomes, consistent with the aspirations of the three Traditional Owner groups and the project team.
Building on the work previously undertaken by Greenshoot in developing a Design + Architecture Framework for the 51 Flinders Lane development, GPT also engaged Greenshoot to deliver an art strategy, artists brief and artist selection process across both signature commissions and temporary programs - including integrated art walls, projection works, suspended artwork, bike ramp artwork and vitrine artwork.
Greenshoot consulted with three Traditional Owner groups to develop an Indigenous-led art strategy which captured the opportunities and delivery process and delivered on the project’s aspirations. The art strategy incorporated a Curatorial Framework and Curatorial Narratives and mapped out the commissioning process.
The Art Strategy was developed to sit alongside the project vision and existing design work to guide the ongoing inclusion of art and architectural elements which seek to honour and celebrate First Peoples knowledge and culture within the project. The Art Strategy tied into the overall Design and Architecture Framework for 51 Flinders Lane, ensuring a coherent and integrated narrative across scales and typologies.
